Long before books rolled off printing presses by the thousands, they were carefully folded, stitched, bound, and crafted by hand. This September, the Cortland County Historical Society invites participants to try their hand at this centuries old art.

Book Arts professional Robert LoMascolo will lead a hands on workshop exploring traditional bookbinding techniques. LoMascolo owns a studio in Aurora specializing in fine letterpress printing and hand bookbinding.

Participants will leave with a beautiful handmade book of their own and perhaps a new appreciation for what once went into every volume on the shelf.
