The Forgotten Stories Behind Victorian Trading Cards

July 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Victorian trading card featuring skeleton holding a glass.

Before hashtags and clickbait, there were trade cards—bold little messengers of the strange, the stylish, and the downright sensational. These brightly printed curios once fueled the dreams and desires of a nation, hawking everything from miracle tonics to must-have fashions… and leaving behind a trail of stories hidden in plain sight.

Join collector and storyteller Taryn Evans for an afternoon uncovering the forgotten power of trade cards. What do they reveal about the obsessions of the 1800s? What surprising local connections might be lurking in your own attic? And why are these paper relics still so irresistible today?

Curious minds are encouraged to pack a lunch—beverages and a sweet treat will be provided. Bring an appetite for history… and a taste for the unexpected.
